OUR EXPERTISE

Drew Tellier has been in public accounting for over 11 years. He articled with PWC where he held a senior position in the audit and assurance group, and he obtained his Chartered Accountant Designation. His experience with a “Big 4” accounting firm enabled him to develop his knowledge of accounting and tax legislation.

In addition to his time in public practice, Drew also worked in an Equity Analysis role at a major Canadian bank, while working towards the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. It was here that Drew conducted extensive valuation analysis on numerous companies while participating in the publishing of numerous stock recommendations in the oil and gas services sector.

Over the last several years, he has spent time in public practice focusing on delivering tax solutions, financial reporting, and overall business guidance to small and medium-sized business owners in an array of industries. Drew has completed the In-Depth Tax program which is considered the highest level of taxation training available in Canada. Despite all the training, it is Drew’s experience throughout his career that has instilled in him the importance of the relationship in order to develop value-added solutions to his client base.

Matthew Smith is a seasoned accounting professional with over 25 years of comprehensive experience in both public accounting and industry roles. He began his career at KPMG, where he completed his articles and obtained his CPA designation in 2005. Matthew further expanded his expertise through international experience in South Africa, where he honed his accounting skills.

In addition to his tenure at KPMG, Matthew gained valuable experience at Deloitte, where he established a strong foundation across multiple accounting functions. He also has significant industry experience, having held various positions ranging from Senior Accountant to Controller at several companies. Over the past five years, he has played a key role in providing outstanding financial reporting and tax solutions at Drew Tellier Chartered Professional Accountants, for various individuals, corporations and trusts.

Matthew is dedicated to serving a diverse clientele, focusing on small to medium-sized enterprises. He specializes in providing tailored tax solutions and business guidance, ensuring his clients achieve optimal tax efficiencies and financial success.

Outside of his professional commitments, Matthew enjoys traveling the world with his wife and two daughters, embracing new cultures and experiences.

Renae Witzaney is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, receiving her B. Comm in 1999. Taking a break after University, she began articling with RSM Richer LLP (formerly Moody Shikaze Boulet) in 2002. Renae received her Chartered Accountant designation in 2005 and continues to be a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta and British Columbia. Renae became a member in BC when she moved from Calgary to Kelowna in 2021 where she continues to reside.

While working at RSM Richter from 2002 through 2007, Renae provided accounting and tax services to a number of small to medium size businesses. In addition to small business accounting, she also was providing tax and accounting services to family trust and personal tax clients. In July 2007, Renae left RSM Richter to start her own practice in additional to taking on the challenging position of full-time at-home mom to her daughter Fable. Renae has grown her practice into a full service accounting firm, providing services to companies, family trusts, and individuals.

In 2023, Renae combined forces with Drew and his team in Calgary in order to better serve her clients as well as add some support and expertise on Drew's side as well. This has proven to be a winning combination and allowed us to improve efficiencies and service to all of our clients.
